SFCDC members play a vital role in growing the organization and keeping community development issues at the forefront through our various committees. As a member of a SFCDC committee you shape community development policies and programs in Miami-Dade County, grow the coalition, and encourage excellence in the community development field.  Participation on the committees is open to all members. We encourage you to join us.  For more information contact SusanJ@southfloridacdc.org.

Housing Policy Committee

2017 Chair: Doug Mayer, Stone Soup Development

Stay abreast of affordable housing policies and resources and help shape local housing and community development policy.  Members of SFCDC are developers of affordable housing, leaders in policy and programs, and other concerned members of the community. Members serving on this committee help develop comprehensive policies by working with each other, meeting with elected officials and local government staff,  and advocating for policies and programs to expand affordable housing opportunities throughout Miami-Dade County.  Have an issue to address, a recommendation to make, or want to stay in the know? This is the committee for you. The committee meets every other month with working groups meeting more frequently on specific issues.

Economic Development Committee

2017 Co-Chairs:  Maria Coto, Partners for Self Employment and  Myrna Sonora, Hispanic Business Initiative Fund (HBIF)

SFCDC focuses on more than housing.  Access to economic opportunity is equally important.  The economic development committee is currently focused on small business issues and policies in Miami-Dade County.  This committee works to increase technical assistance and capital to small businesses owned by low-to-moderate income individuals and in low-to-moderate income areas. The committee meets every other month.

Membership Committee

2017 Chair:  Sam Diller, Haitian American Community Development Corporation (HACDC)

Being involved with SFCDC offers many opportunities to network and partner with others working to improve the lives of low-to-moderate income individuals and communities.   Members of this committee work to maximize membership engagement opportunities and help plan networking events. Be an ambassador of  the community development industry and help identify new coalition members and partners. We can accomplish so much more together.
